Building Privacy: Hedge Extensions
Recently, we had the pleasure of building and adding two hedge extensions for a client in Del Mar, CA. An existing cinder block wall provided a small barrier, but wasn't quite what our client needed. In order to help keep her dogs in the backyard, she requested a hedge extension atop her walls. We were more than happy to help.

As you can see, with a hedge extension, we build an artificial boxwood hedge to sit atop an existing wall structure. In this case, the current wall was made of cinder block. Our artificial boxwood hedge cage was built to be drilled down atop this existing wall. In an instant, a wall that was once only 12" high from the backyard, becomes 36" high. Now, our client can rest easy knowing her dogs won't escape over the wall.
Our client's property also included a lower run area she hoped her dogs could enjoy. However, the current low height of the cinder block wall didn't allow for that, given the dogs could easily hop over the wall and run down to the busy street below. Here, we took the wall height from 20" tall to 60" tall.
To increase stability and improve the look of the bland cinder block, we extended this hedge wall down to the ground. In an instant, another low, boring cement wall became a beautiful, functional wall that put our client at ease with her dogs.
